“Porto in Colours: a Vibrant City”

Talita Barbosa brings an explosion of colour and emotion to Clérigos Tower

The Clérigos Museum presents its latest exhibition: “Porto in Colours, a Vibrant City”, featuring 14 original works by the Luso-Brazilian visual artist Talita Barbosa. The opening takes place on April 11 and the exhibition will be on display until June 29.

Among the main subjects of the paintings are the imposing Porto City Hall, the historic Ribeira, the iconic Clérigos Tower, the majestic Cathedral (Sé), and the lively Bolhão Market – landmarks that come to life through the artist’s unique lens, celebrating the city through an intense, vibrant and deeply emotional visual language.

Talita Barbosa transforms the canvas into a true visual celebration, exploring the intimate relationship between Porto’s iconic architecture and its people. By blending elements of pop art and comic book aesthetics, the artist creates a universe where colours shout joy and shapes carry us into the heartbeat of the city.

“The Clérigos Tower has always been a meeting point of spirituality, history, culture and art. This exhibition is part of our ongoing effort to offer a cultural programme that is both excellent and distinctive. Talita Barbosa’s art is an invitation to rediscover the energy and enthusiasm for Porto. More than an aesthetic tribute, it invites reflection on the role of the city as a space of encounter, diversity, and creativity,” highlights Father Manuel Fernando.

The artist’s unmistakable style – marked by bold outlines and an energetic colour palette – offers a new interpretation of the city of Porto. No longer seen as grey and somber, but as vibrant, dynamic and full of life. A true breath of joy and colour for the city.
